First off I would like to thank DarkMazda for translating this installment in the Megaman series. Rockman and Forte (If it ever came to North America, it would probably be called Megaman and Bass) is really quite similar to Mega Man X4, in the way that you get to pick between to distinct characters (Megaman and Bass). For those of you who don't know how Bass is, he's the dude in the black costume in the above picture on the right. He was also featured in Megaman 8.

Stage Select Screen

Maigc Man!
You start by picking your character (Megaman or Bass). Each character has there own specialties. Megaman for example can charge up his Buster (i.e. gun) whereas Bass has a machine gun Buster, but can't move while shooting. The level system is also a bit different. It starts out like all the others with a first level where you get introduced to the main bad-guy, and then you have to fight some boss. Well, after that you are presented with a map screen (View above picture). Each enemy branches out into other enemies, which you can't access till you beat the one before it. It's a good effort from Capcom, but normal stage select method was much more liberating and allowed for more choices.

The storyline involves a robot named King who has captured facilities and dataplans for robots. He is making his own army (King army) to rule the world, only YOU (Bass or Megaman) can defeat him. Nice little intro there with Protoman getting sliced in half =). There are quite a few bonuses. Throughout the game are CDs which can be collected to gain information from the Data Base (these are the CDs King stole). Guess what robots he was talking about, ALL THE BOSS'S FROM THE OTHER GAMES! Well now you get to see better pictures of the other bosses PLUS you get to read up on your japanesse (1 of 2 parts DarkMazda didnt translate, the other being the main title). Over all, i give this game a 8.7 on the EmulaZone scale! Now go out there and get that Rom or e-mail me or even click on the DarkMazda link!
