ACTRAISER

Well then... this is one of those games where you become a creator after being a destroyer. There are elements of linear role-playing, contact action and simple strategy.
Your personal angel advises you on how to proceed... rid the area of munsterz and set the humans to breed and populate, whilst keeping them safe and happy (well, in a way). In return, your level increases with population growth (no contraception, baby!), and the first inhabitants make offerings to you.

godly_deeds In order to bring life back to the world, you must descend into a main dungeon and whack the baddies. Naturally, there are bosses (demons!), and your score is recorded for each battle area completed.
Your life gauge and MP capacity increases with each level gained (break those beds, citizens!). To get a magic point, you can either use an overworld item or find some in dungeons. The spells are found by your worshippers, and you can equip one via the ship. You cannot save your game in the dungeons and you can carry no items, but there are many recovery points. Enemies sometimes regenerate, however.

After defeating the boss, you will send two people to start your city. The angel can handle things from here, as they are simple enough. Usually, your servants require some help in the form of rain, lightning, or other such events. Some of these natural forces will become usable when needed (later areas, higher SP levels), and others might be unexpectedly requested.
As for interactivity, this is about as far as you get. They will build in the directions you specify, and their civilization levels will increase after events unfold.

angelic Keep your SP filled by relying on your followers, or killing monsters. When they become brave enough, you can seal off monster lairs using them, and they might find items for you. Sometimes, you will have to descend into dungeons in order to save them from some calamity, but this never gets really dangerous (unless their productivity suffers!).
They build roads and farms for support, and you can allow some technology to cross borders (wheat, bridge construction). Some places will give you items which will help other situations... as your population will be afflicted at various times.

Now, sometimes this game can be terribly fast paced. Overworld monsters regenerate quickly, and you have to move very fast to kill them. Your angel shoots arrows, and can receive a powerup which lasts for a fixed number of shots. The population finds these items for you, and can sometimes give you hints ("The area looks suspicious.").

Monsters will be abundant even while your SP is not needed, so you have to close up the lairs quickly by sending your followers. A good thing is how they retain items as offerings, and you can take them when needed. Progress also stops once you leave an area, so you can freely explore.

The game is a bit too linear, but it is still bearable. The control in the dungeons is a bit too stiff, and you get too few spells. Nevertheless, some rational system is involved - when your people are diseased, you must go to the tropical island to get the herbs, and when you find the item, give it to these isolated people so that they can progress (and find more items for you).

When you build at certain areas, the people might indicate whether some item was found, or some waylander might give you the task of finding him on the map. They will always give some news, which will help you progress.

Well... the last task is a good romp. You should gather up all the stored scrolls that your people have (a quick screen shows all the city information that you need), and try to tweak your levels (when you don't really need your SP, try frying the older settlements and allowing new units, which are supposed to house more people).

So, this game is good, with not-too-noticeable music or sound effects (you notice when an evil bat grabs four of your people, though). The graphics are adequate, but the control is somewhat lacking... a master of the raging demon will be tied down with the slow responses you receive here. ...it is still a good game, and can keep you locked for about three days. Play it if you like games like "Populous - the beginning." There is some satisfaction in seeing how events progress (unlike in other just_kill_them action games).
