The Last Blade is one of the best fighters on the Neo-Geo system, right next to the King of Fighters series. It has the best fighting engine I've seen in a fighting game (right next to Dead or Alive 2). It doesn't have any super combos with pretty colors and that sort but it does use weapons varying from your usual Samurai sword to your big baseball bat like club. The graphics are beautiful with a zoom in camera and awe inspiring backgrounds, but no 3d however, this is a strictly 2d game.

The Last Blade has 12 playable characters right from the start with 3 more to unlock after you've beaten the bosses with certain characters. Very well done music too, in most fighting games you don't even notice the music, that's not the case with The Last Blade, it features music that goes along well with the levels and background. The sound effects are superbly done, sound effects that make you cringe when someone gets hit with a nine-hit combo appears often in the game. My only problem with the game is with the voice acting and half of the text, it's in Japanese so I have no idea what the story line is, but its OK since The Last Blade is one of the best fighting games I have ever played in a long time.
